[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Message from The Technical and Applied Science HoD[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Technical and Applied Science Department is one of the key Departments at Kajiado West Technical and Vocational College mandated with impacting both the practical and theoretical skills to the trainees. The Department has nine courses which are offered from the Artisan, Craft (Certificate) and Diploma level. These courses are
- Welding & Fabrication
- Agriculture
- Electrical & Electronics
- Building Technology
- Plumbing
- Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy
- Fashion Design and Dressmaking
- Mechanical
- Land survey.
The examining bodies are NITA, KNEC & TVET-CDACC. Our Department is also offering CBET Training in the various courses as Our trainers have been fully trained by TVET-CDACC on Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) and are competent to offer these training to the students. Our College Is a Center of Excellence in Welding and Fabrication and has State of the art workshops equipped with equipments and materials required to carry out the various practical sessions in the welding and Fabrication course. Other courses are also equipped with relevant practical equipments and materials. The Department has a large pool of skilled trainers who are mandated with impacting both the theoretical and practical skills. Our trainers always give various repair tasks within the College to test whether the trainees are practically competent.
These help in boosting the trainees confidence while sitting for their final exams and also when they get employed either by a company or in their own businesses. In order to boost our student’s ability to innovate solutions to the problems in society, the trainees always take part in TVET fair where they compete with students from other colleges on the innovations which they have been able to develop.
The Department is contributing in the Kenyan Government Big Four Agenda More so in the affordable housing and Food Security by producing a pool of Artisans and Technicians who include Electricians, Welders, Masons, Mechanics, plumbers, Land surveyors who take part in the building and construction industry of the affordable houses and finally agriculturists who will not only use Technology to manage farms smartly but also Carry out value addition on agricultural products to ensure that they last longer and fetch more money hence contributing towards ensuring our country has food security.
